Come on, it’s Mexico
Mexico isn’t the most common vacation destination for nothing. It is home to many all- inclusive resorts that look extravagant enough to break the bank just for dinner, but come in at a very reasonable and affordable price. Mexico is also very cheap to travel to as it is not as remote as places like Hawaii and Costa Rica that are both further, resulting in more travel time and less fun for the family. The only potential drawback is that you wont get a white Christmas, but you know what's better than a white Christmas: Christmas on a soft white sand beach. A Christmas where you can swim in the turquoise salt water that is the ocean as you please. A Christmas where you wake up to a magnificent sunset reflecting off the blue-green of the ocean, flooding your room with a canvas worth of colours; Instead of the sound of a snowblower at 7 in the morning and an ice cold car that takes a solid 10 minutes to even become remotely bearable.
Why Christmas?
Okay I've sold you on Mexico, but why would you go at Christmas time? Isn’t Christmas supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year? Well, it is. Although Chrstimas time is supposed to be full of joy and celebration it is actually the most stressful time of the year according to a study done by the American Psychological Association in 2013. The holidays at home are stressful because not only do you have to organize dates to see every last distant bit of your family. You just spent 5 days at aunt Mary’s, pack up kids, we have to drive 4 hours to see your Uncle Tom. Now don't forget about what you're going to do when you're at your 2nd cousin’s house. There can't be a down minute or the kids will start throwing a fit, and we can't have that. No don’t worry you might say, your family all comes to you because you are most in the middle out of all of your siblings. Well now you have to cook and clean at least twice as much as you had too before, if not more. The holidays at home are just a hot mess of stress and planning; wouldn’t it be nice to be able to say see you guys in 2 weeks when I'm back from Mexico.
The culture
Mexico is a country that thrives off of its invigorating culture that will feel like a splash of water in your face, bringing a whole new sight and feel to your senses. The food alone brings your palate to a different part of the globe as it has chilies and spices that are simply indescribable. Mexico is also notorious for having parties in the streets that will run rampant through a town pulling everybody to its cause, and not ending until the sun lights up the sky in the morning. There is no better display of this culture than during the holidays because if you haven't been to a New years party in Mexico you might be doing new years wrong. So put that phone book down, call your local airline, and see you in Mexico.
